Time Zone

China follows a single standard time zone of GMT +08:00 or WIB +01:00, despite that it spans five geographical time zones. The official national standard time is called Beijing Time or China Standard Time (CST).

Education System

China has the largest higher education system in the world. At the undergraduate level, higher education in China includes two-year and three-year junior colleges, and universities offering programs in both academic and vocational subjects. Many universities and colleges offer graduate programs leading to the master’s or Ph.D. degree.

Cost of Living

Living cost in China varies according to where you are geographically. There are many options and it all dependent on the lifestyle you choose. It is relatively low and reasonable compared to USA, UK and other western countries. The cost of living for a student is estimated around 3,000 CNY to 4,000 CNY per month including accommodation, meals, entertainment and other necessities.

Campus Accommodation

Most Chinese universities provide very good and comfortable dormitories for their students. The cost varies depending on the size and location of it, mostly between 2,500 CNY to 10,000 CNY per year. If you are interested in this type of accommodation, please contact the school you will be attending.

Rental Accommodation

In most cases, Chinese universities don’t allow any students to apply for off-campus accommodation. However, if you really want to, you can try to contact your university co-coordinator and ask for permission to live off-campus.

The price range is diverse, depending on the location, facilities, etc. Mostly ranged around 700 CNY – 2,000 CNY per month. Before looking for a place to rent, gather as many information as you can about the types of properties, costs and locations.
